OUR APPOINTMENT POLICY'S KEY CONSIDERATIONS

2 HOURS NOTICE TO CANCEL OR CHANGE APPOINTMENT

Please refer to the APPOINTMENT tab on this website's Menu for information about our categories of Appointments and Fee Schedule.

Our clinic requires 2 hours advance notice to cancel or change an appointment in fairness to our Doctors, who are trying to see as many patients as  they can each day and by not giving notice it reduces their workload and ability to see those who need them.

If less than 2 hours or no notice is provided to the clinic, the patient will be charged a $50 fee however in some cases the Doctor may waive such.

WHO CAN MAKE/CHANGE OR CANCEL AN APPOINTMENT

At The DOCTORS. Hope Island, we are committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of all our patients. Due to strict privacy legislation, we are only able to discuss, make, or change appointments with the individual who is directly involved in the appointment—unless the person is a child or a dependent, in which case a parent or guardian may act on their behalf.

This is to ensure we are complying with privacy laws and protecting your personal and medical information as sharing any details  with a 3rd party is not permitted

We understand that children caring for parents, spouses, carers and support workers, to name just a few, may find it necessary or helpful to be able to make, cancel or change appointments for another person.

If you want someone to be able to do these things for you, our clinic has a document that you may request the team at reception to organise for you. You will need to do the following to nominate and give consent to have the party/parties do things on your behalf legally,

  1. Contact our reception team and advise them you wish to nominate another party to act on your behalf with our clinic and who it is/are

  2. Make a time with reception to come in and to complete the documentation

  3. Bring the party you will nominate to the clinic with you, or they can arrange their own time, as they will have to complete part of the document and will have to establish their ID and physically site their original Drivers Licence, Medicare card and/ or Passport.

  4. In addition to specifying who you nominate you will be able to complete the documentation which will give you the choice of exactly what this nominee can do for you (for example make appointments) and is not permitted to do (for example receive test results for you).

  5. The Patient and their Nominee/s will both sign the document which will be filed so that the clinic can confirm the consent has been given when the nominee contacts the clinic on your behalf.
