聴覚障害者向けサービス
For our patients who use sign language (AUSLAN) and require or prefer this service our clinic is pleased to make necessary arrangements for our patients. It is recommended that one makes their appointment and allows and provides as much notice to the clinic of your requirement so that we can ensure the necessary arrangements are made for you to have a full and complete understanding of the medical services and advice given by the Doctor.
Our Clinic uses two services for our patients which are;
-
In person AUSLAN INTERPRETER
-
Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) where the interpreter joins by Video (such as Zoom/Teams) with the Dr & Patient
Why is it important to use these resources;
With an Interpreter the Doctor can ensure that the following risks are mitigated and avoided:
• Not obtaining a full medical history including current medications
• The patient not understanding their medical condition and the proposed treatment plan
• The patient not taking medication as prescribed due to communication issues.
The DOCTORS Hope Island engages these services from organisations on the Gold Coast such as;
-
DEAFCONNECT (www.deafconnect.org.au)
-
ANYTIME AUSLAN (www.anytimeauslan.com.au
If our patient has a preference of another organisation and informs the clinic we will be pleased to contact that organisation to arrange the interpreting services.
Contact our Reception team by email at contact@thedrshopeisland.au or Fax 07 5621 0426. Please be advised that this service may take up to 48 hours for a response.
